Holmes Mill wedding |
Nat & Matt
A road trip up north to Clitheroe in May resulted in me photographing one of my favourite weddings ever! I also had my sister second shooting with me, so it was great to have some company on the day!
Nat & Matt chose Holmes Mill to get married in, a very cool industrial old building in the middle of town, that has tonnes of character and history behind it – I was so excited when I saw their website – there’s nothing really like it down in the South West!
Getting ready
I began the morning at the Mill, where the girls were getting ready together, and it was really chilled out, with prosecco flowing and loads of laughs. Nat wore a gorgeous Catherine Dean slip and lace top and Matt wore a very classy black suit and tie and they looked very dapper. Also Nat’s shoes are to DIE FOR – bloody love a good teal shoe 😍
Favourite moment of the morning was Nat’s dad coming up to see her! EMOTIONAL!
The ceremony
The wedding took place in the old mill upstairs, and was a huge brick room which overlooks the brewing area. Filled with festoon lights, Mr & Mrs balloons and a cool ‘The Happy Couple’ neon sign, they said their vows with everyone smiling around them 😀
The reception
It was a overcast day with a bit of rain, which didn’t bother them at all. While the guests enjoyed canapés and cocktails in The Engine Room, we wandered around the venue doing fun and creative portraits. My favourite photo from the day was after all the guests had gone upstairs and we had the big engine room to ourselves, – so industrial and plants everywhere 😍 When the weather isn’t great outside – it’s always a fun challenge to figure out cool spots indoors for couple photos!
Nat also had a custom leather jacket, designed on the back by Kate Illustrate with their names and wedding date – a lovely item to keepsake for the years to come!
During the reception they had a live singer and guitarist Chris Stocks, which gave the afternoon a really chilled vibe. The guests all wandered upstairs to the main room, where it had been transformed! They had some lovely speeches before they sat down to eat, and for the wedding breakfast they had pie and mash, along with fish and chips and it was loved by all the guests!
After dinner they cut the wedding cake, and they had their first dance. Guests made the most of the photobooth, which was laugh and a half to photograph!
They finished off the night to some rock music, with the guests showing off their moves, some singing (and with a little bit of Dirty Dancing lifts by the guys also!)
WHAT A WEDDING 💗 Thank you to Nat & Matt for having us along, and congratulations!
