It’s always so great to go back to beautiful venues like Chateau de Puissentut! Set deep in the French countryside, it’s a relaxed home for any wedding, and a place where everyone can truly settle in. The surrounding fields, the courtyard tangled with climbing plants and lots of lavender made the place smell incredible.
Wildflowers were woven through the entire day, and it felt especially special knowing how intentional that theme was. As well as the girls bouquets, and the groomsmen’s buttonhole flowers, Fleureuse Flower Happy created a stunning hanging installation in the pigeonnier where the ceremony took place. It completely transformed the space and was beautiful!
The dress was extraordinary! The bride’s sister, a fashion designer, had been dreaming of making it since they were little, and seeing that come to life was incredibly special. She had also taken on Greg’s suit, making both outfits deeply personal and completely one of a kind.
Family was the heart of this wedding – The ceremony was led by the bride’s uncle, full of meaning, familiar voices and a little improvisation, with a reading by her sister. Greg’s groomsmen helped usher guests into the ceremony, and on the bride’s side, her sister, cousin, closest university friends and best friend made up a bridal party, so a lovely tight-knit circle. Makeup was done by Greg’s cousin, and everyone styled each other’s hair, so nice and relaxed!
The bride’s mum had been drying rose petals for years, saving them from special moments starting with the engagement party. We did the confetti throw up the path from the pigeonnier up to the garden and its one of my favourite moments of the day 😍
Jess & Greg both LOVE sunsets, so I knew we had to wait patiently for golden-hour portraits (on the longest day of the year!) but we managed to run out to the field below, and in front of the Chateau at the right time. It was absolutely worth the wait, because the next day the field has been completely cut down. They’d spotted a photograph I’d taken on Instagram, through the archway just as the sun was setting, so it was really nice to capture that for them also!
Speeches took place before the meal so everyone could relax and actually enjoy their food. The big umbrellas were brought over to the drinks area and everyone could sit down and relax and have a laugh in the shade (and avoid the 39 degree sun!)
Cake, impromptu musical moments and a big party in the barn followed to finish off their day, and I came back the following afternoon to capture everyone chilling out by the pool, along with some very delicious crepes!
A truly gorgeous and hot wedding at Chateau de Puissentut, and one of my faves!
